How much does window cleaning cost near Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga?

A plain price guide for homeowners in Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, Chino and the cities around them: our prices, the ranges published elsewhere, and how to compare quotes.

Short answer: we charge $9 per window for the outside of the glass, with a $130 minimum per visit. A one-story home with about 20 windows is $180 for a one-time clean. On a plan every 3 months the same visit is $153.

One outside guide lists $8 to $16 for a standard residential window, inside and out.

Another says professional window cleaning services typically cost between $150 and $300 for a whole home.

Our prices fall inside those ranges.

What we charge, by home size

Our price is per window, because that is how the work scales. The table uses the window counts the quote tool assumes for each home size. A sliding glass door counts as 2 windows. If you know your real count, type it into the quote tool and the price follows.

Two-story homes cost 15 percent more per window, because reaching upper-floor glass with a water-fed pole from the ground takes longer than a ground-floor window. Nobody climbs a ladder against your wall and nobody walks on the roof.

HomeWindows assumedOne-time price
One-story, under 1,500 sq ft14$130
One-story, 1,500 to 2,200 sq ft20$180
One-story, 2,200 to 3,000 sq ft26$234
One-story, over 3,000 sq ft32$288
Two-story, under 1,800 sq ft20$207
Two-story, 1,800 to 2,800 sq ft28$290
Two-story, 2,800 to 3,800 sq ft38$393
Two-story, over 3,800 sq ft48$497

Add-ons are priced per window too: screens washed and tracks cleaned for $3, and inside glass for $4. Heavy hard-water crust is not in the base price. We quote it from a photo, from about $6 a window on top, and we never add it without asking. Read the hard-water guide for why.

What the published guides say

We tried to find a price for window cleaning in the Inland Empire specifically and could not find a published one. The big home-cost sites (Angi, HomeAdvisor, Thumbtack and similar) blocked our automated check, and we did not use numbers we could not open. These are the pages we could read:

Where we land against those figures: $9 a window is for the outside only, and our add-on for screens and tracks is $3 a window, inside the $2 to $30 range for extras. These are launch prices and may change.

What pushes a window cleaning price up

  • Number of windows. This is the biggest factor, so count them before you compare. A sliding door counts as 2 for us. Some companies count by pane, so a home with divided panes can cost more under a per-pane price.
  • Stories. Upper-floor glass takes longer. We charge 15 percent more per window for two-story homes. Housecall Pro says to add surcharges for high-access windows.
  • Screens and tracks. They are where most of the dirt that blows in ends up. They are a separate line, so check whether a quote includes them.
  • Inside glass. Many quotes are outside only. Ask.
  • Hard-water spotting. Light rings come off in a normal wash. Heavy crust takes more time, and Housecall Pro lists it among extras at $2 to $30 each.
  • Access. Locked gates, dogs, tight side yards and windows behind shrubs slow the work. Clear shrubs from the glass before the visit and we can reach from the ground.
  • The minimum. A small home still pays the minimum visit. Ours is $130.

Plans: what recurring cleaning saves

Cleaning on a schedule is the cheapest way to keep glass clean, because dust and sprinkler spots are easier to remove when they are fresh. Our plans take a percentage off every visit compared with the one-time price of the same visit. For the 20-window example at $180 one-time:

PlanPer visitVisits a yearPer yearSaved vs. one-time
Every 3 months (15% off)$1534$612$108
Every 4 months (12% off)$1583$474$66
Twice a year (8% off)$1662$332$28

You can pause or cancel any time, with no contract and no cancellation fee. "Saved vs. one-time" compares each plan visit to the one-time price of the same visit, not to the yearly cost of cleaning less often.

How often should you clean windows here?

This Old House recommends two thorough exterior cleans a year, spring and fall, and up to three in areas with a lot of pollution. In the Inland Empire the dirt has a clear calendar. Santa Ana winds blow mostly from fall into winter, and WeatherSpark's modeled data puts Ontario's rainless period at April 22 to October 20, so dust and sprinkler spots build for months. Spring after the windy season and early fall before it starts are the two visits that matter most.

Every 3 months is the plan most customers pick, because it also catches mid-summer sprinkler spots. If your windows face a freeway, a warehouse area or the mountains, or you have lots of trees, three or four visits a year keeps the glass clear. The Santa Ana wind guide explains the timing.

How to compare window cleaning quotes

  • Ask whether the price is per window, per pane or per house. A per-pane price looks small, but panes multiply fast on a house with divided windows.
  • Ask what is included: outside only, screens, tracks, inside.
  • Ask how upper windows are reached.
  • One maker says water-fed poles can clean glass up to a height of 20 metres, safely from the floor.
  • That is about 65 feet, far above any house wall. A ladder against a wall or a lift is a different job with different risks.
  • Ask what happens with hard-water spots, and whether extra work needs your OK before it is charged.
  • Ask about rain. We reschedule at no charge if a visit lands on a rainy day.
  • Ask about the minimum visit and about a plan price. Cleaning on a schedule is cheaper per visit.
  • Get the total in writing before the visit.

Where the price does not change

Our prices are the same in every city within 15 miles of Ontario. That includes Ontario, Rancho Cucamonga, Upland, Chino, Fontana and the rest on the service area page. What changes from city to city is the water, the homes and the wind, and each city page covers those.

Common questions

We charge $9 per window for the outside, with a $130 minimum visit. Housecall Pro's pricing guide lists $8 to $16 for a standard residential window, inside and out.

How much does it cost to have a whole house cleaned?

A one-story home with about 20 windows is $180 with us. This Old House puts whole-home professional cleaning at $150 to $300.

Is it cheaper to clean windows on a plan?

Yes. Every 3 months takes 15% off each visit, every 4 months 12% and twice a year 8%.

Do you charge more for two-story homes?

Yes, 15 percent more per window, because the pole work from the ground takes longer.
