Window cleaning in Pomona, CA

Pomona is a large, older city with a university, a fairgrounds and a lot of hillside neighborhoods like Phillips Ranch. Outside windows are $9 each, plans save up to 15%.

Homes in Pomona

Pomona has 147,966 people in 23 square miles. Median home value is about $636,700.

Wikipedia places the city in the Pomona Valley at about 850 feet and lists ZIP codes 91766, 91767 and 91768. Phillips Ranch is the city's newest neighborhood, a hilly area between downtown and Diamond Bar that grew from the 1980s. Cal Poly Pomona and the Fairplex fairgrounds are major employers. If you rent, ask your landlord before you book, because the owner usually has to agree to outside work.

Water in Pomona and what it does to glass

The City of Pomona runs its own water system. The latest report we could open was published in 2024 and covers 2023 data, so treat the numbers as a year or two behind. It says supply was 80 percent groundwater from city wells, 14 percent imported State Water Project water and 6 percent surface water from San Antonio Canyon. Hardness averaged 260 mg/L in city groundwater (range 160 to 360) and 175 mg/L from the city's surface-water plant. The USGS scale calls water more than 180 mg/L as very hard. That puts the 260 mg/L groundwater average in the very hard class.

Walnut Valley Water District serves part of Pomona too, with different numbers. The city's more recent reports were not readable to us, so we do not quote a 2025 figure. What matters for your glass is simple: very hard water leaves more mineral per drop. If sprinklers wet your windows daily, rings build quickly. Tell us in your quote request, we will text you for a photo, and we will tell you what a clean-up costs. The hard-water guide has the details.

Wind, dust and sun

Wikipedia says seasonal Santa Ana winds arrive from the northeast in the fall. Four freeways cross the city, I-10, SR-57, SR-60 and SR-71, and we found no Pomona dust measurement to cite. NOAA's San Diego climate summary puts Santa Ana winds mostly from October to February. The air district says gusty Santa Ana winds can lift dust and soil into the air. That is when glass collects the most film. A wash in spring and one in fall keep up.

Pomona: ash from the 2003 Grand Prix Fire next door

The closest large fire we could source is the Grand Prix Fire. It started October 21, 2003, in Coyote Canyon in Fontana, and strong Santa Ana winds pushed it through neighboring Claremont on the night of October 25 into the 26th. The Claremont Courier counts 65 homes lost in Claremont. It does not mention Pomona, so we do not claim ash fell here.

HOAs, roofs and solar panels

Phillips Ranch and the hillside neighborhoods mean slopes where ladders are a poor idea. We clean from the ground with a water-fed pole. For solar, single-story roofs are the easy case, $6 a panel. We do not clean second-story roof arrays. The price is per window, so a house with fewer windows costs less, down to the $130 minimum.

Pomona electric service and solar billing

On the SCE service territory city list, Pomona appears. That list is dated 2010, so your bill is the way to confirm your utility today.

The CPUC says the Net Billing Tariff applies to customers who submit an interconnection application on or after April 15, 2023. Customers on the NEM 2.0 tariff are allowed to remain on it for 20 years from the date they interconnected. Your interconnection date decides which tariff you are on. Rain does much of the cleaning in a wet winter. For scale, a University of California San Diego study of 186 California sites found that, on average, sites would have yielded 0.81 percent more annual energy if they had been washed halfway through the summer drought. It did not report results for this city, so yours can differ.

Solar rights and exterior rules in Pomona

We could not open Pomona's solar permit page, so we state no city rule. Under Civil Code 714, an association restriction that effectively bans solar is void. If an association does not deny a solar application in writing within 45 days of receipt, the application is deemed approved. Phillips Ranch and other hillside tracts often have associations, so check yours before booking.
