Window cleaning in Rialto, CA

Rialto is a city of about 105,000 people with more than one water supplier, a lot of warehouses on its north side and homes that skew older. Outside windows are $9 each, plans save up to 15%.

Homes in Rialto

Rialto has 104,912 people in 24.1 square miles. Median home value is about $543,300.

Older homes are likely to have older windows and sliding doors, and every window has a track to clean. Screens and tracks are a $3-a-window add-on. Rialto's ZIP codes are 92376 and 92377. The unincorporated community of Bloomington, which has ZIP 92316, sits right next to Rialto and is covered from this page.

Water in Rialto and what it does to glass

Rialto is served by more than one supplier. Rialto Water Services, which the city owns and Veolia operates, serves a system of about 59,000 people. West Valley Water District serves portions of Rialto, Colton, Fontana and Bloomington. Fontana Water Company covers part of the area as well. Each prints its own report, and none prints one blended number.

The report shows hardness of 130 to 220 mg/L. The same report gives an average of 160, and about 260 mg/L from the Baseline Feeder source. On the USGS scale, 160 is hard and 260 is very hard. If your windows have heavy white crust, you are likely on the harder end, and the crust is worth a photo. We quote that from a photo before we start.

Wind, dust and sun

Rialto sits near the Cajon Pass, at about 1,350 feet. Rialto is affected by the Santa Ana winds, with residents feeling the warm, dry air through the Cajon Pass. Las Colinas, in the north of the city, has several distribution centers, and the I-15, I-10 and SR-210 freeways cross the city. Wind carries dust, trucks add grime, and glass shows both. We have no measurement of Rialto air to cite, so we do not claim a number, only the exposure: pass, freeways and warehouses.

HOAs, roofs and solar panels

Older homes sometimes have rooftop solar added later, often on a single-story roof. We clean those panels from the ground, $6 a panel. The city has no master-planned HOA community we can cite, so check whether your street has an association before you book a time. We never go on roofs, and we do not clean arrays on second-story roofs.

Rialto solar: older homes, newer panels

Rialto is on a published list of Southern California Edison service-territory cities, so check your bill to confirm. Under the CPUC rules, customers applying for interconnection since April 15, 2023 take service on the Net Billing Tariff, and NEM 2.0 customers can stay for 20 years from the date they interconnected. So a system connected in 2020 can stay on NEM 2.0 through 2040.

If you bought a house with panels, ask for the interconnection paperwork. The date on it decides which tariff you are on. The CPUC says a customer who moves from an older NEM tariff to net billing is not eligible for the nine-year net billing guarantee, so do not switch without reading the terms. A cleaning is worth it only if the panels are visibly dirty. After a rainy winter the gain is small.

Rialto: no HOA to cite, and the state solar law

We did not find a master-planned HOA community in Rialto that we could verify, so we will not name one. If your street has an association, Civil Code section 714 says an association that does not deny a solar application in writing within 45 days of receiving it is deemed to have approved it, unless the delay comes from a reasonable request for more information.

The city's holiday lighting handout says all holiday decorative lighting is permitted for a period not to exceed 90 days. We did not find a city code section on light spill that we could read. Ask the city if you plan permanent lighting. Rialto Water Services lists using potable water to wash down driveways and sidewalks as a prohibited water use.

Which of our services fit Rialto

For Rialto, windows on a plan with screens and tracks is the common job, because older frames collect dirt in the tracks. Solar is a second visit item when the roof is one story. Holiday lights run mid-November to mid-December. Rialto is 14.6 miles from Ontario, near the edge of our service area. Ask about the neighbor credit.
